Śrīmad Bhagavad Gītā : Best Practice for Human Life

---------------------------------------------------

1.0 SUMMARY

-------------

When the world has best practices and standards for professions, then there should also be best practices for personal life. Hence I bring into the mix, the oath book from the oldest surviving spiritual faith in the world that is still practiced today -Śrīmad Bhagavad Gītā, a living 'United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization' (UNESCO) Heritage of Humanity. The best practices that I try to follow in my personal life have been elucidated in its purport. In particular it provides values, which serve as scaffolding for interpersonal relations that enable individual, families, teams and nations to serve society sustainably.

4.0 GUIDANCE FOR HUMAN LIFE

-------------

In order to turn natural chaos of human life into path of progress, the world has learnt to define best practices and standards. Hence, the term "Standing on the shoulder of Giants" was coined as generations build upon the learnings of the generations before them. The Logic then also boils down to that there should also be best practices for personal life. Provided a person can make serious attempt to be authentic in their lives as per guidance from
sages (Kadamba Kanana Swami, 2023, April, 25), then following is the ideal which can be implemented via grace of such His/Her/Their Holiness individuals, whether it be in the professional, health or spiritual domain, in the footsteps of best available guidance on the matter:

How to Lead God Compliant family Life?

'mama vartmānuvartante manuṣhyāḥ pārtha sarvaśhaḥ'- Whatsoever, a great man does, the same is done by others, as well (Gita 3/21). God is the supreme Being. He [God/ She/ They] is superior to the all the great men. So all people follow Him [Her/ Them]. The same fact, has been pointed out, in the second half of the twenty-third verse of the third chapter.

4.1 Feeling towards parent

The Lord, ever remains prepared to reciprocate the sentiment of His [Her/ Their] devotee. [Let's take the example of Lord Sita Rāma (Ramsukhdas, 2006, Pg. 483)] King Daśratha treats Him [Her/ Them], as his [her / their] son [daughter / LGBTQI+ child]. So He [She/ They] becomes/become an obedient son [daughter / LGBTQI+ child] and cannot disobey His [ Her / Their] father.* The Lord, wants to reveal the secret that a devotee should accept the same relationship with Him [Her/Them], which he [she/ they] has/have with a person who is most loving to him [her/ them], whether he [she/ they] is his [her/ their] son [daughter / LGBTQI+ child], father or whether she [ he/ they] is/are his [her/ their] mother. By doing so, the Lord will become most loving to him [her/ them] and thus the person will be able to attain Him [ Her/ Them] easily.

4.2 Feeling towards spouse, sibling and relatives

Secondly, the Lord wants to urge the people, that by following His [Her/ Them] footsteps they should also become worthy sons or parents or brothers, husbands, wifes or sisters etc. Moreover, they should render service to other members of a family, without expecting any reward from them and without being proud of their actions. Those who have affinity with parents and other relatives, only for rendering selfless service to them, follow the Lord's path in the real sense. By doing so, for the good of others they will be free from the feeling of 'mine', and they will develop devotion for God and attain Him [Her/ Them].

4.3 Feeling Towards All

Thirdly, towards society in general following must be followed (rgmedia108, 2018, Jan, 19):

4.3.1 Feeling Towards Superior

Be pleased and happy for them. Serve them nicely. Do not envy or get depressed.

4.3.2 Feeling Towards Learner

Feel deep compassion for them. Genuinely try to uplift them. Do not misuse your superiority in the situation.

4.3.3 Feeling Towards an Equal

Become friends. Be genuine well wisher and try to uplift each other. Do not boast or show off.

4.4 Self Healing

The best way to self heal is to know 'when to stop', because of saying 'Prevention is better than cure'. This is where the oath book (Commentary from Gita Press Gorakhpur's Śri Vaiṣṇava Mahārāja Ramsukhdas ji) is most helpful, as it points out that for standard humans:

A man should (continue to) do his [her/their] duties (enjoined upon him [her/them] by the Śāstras- whether of an obligatory nature or those of an occasional type) so long as he [she/they] do not get disgusted with the pleasures of sense nor deeply attached (develop likes and dislikes) to them or so long as keenness does not appear in him [her/them] for listening to my stories etc (Śrīmad-Bhāgavata 11/20/9) [I believe the latter can be done to an extent parallely with obligatory duties, like my facebook public profile.](Vedavyas, 2010, Pg. 607). Here question may arise, if we dedicated ourselves to God, who will feed us and our families. Answer is 'Gratitude to God' as per Verse 25 of MaHĀBHĀRATA Vana Parva's (Book of the Forest) Draupadī-haraṇa Parva's (The book of the abduction of Draupadī) chapter 263 (Vedavyāsa, 2024 Pg. 834).

4.5 Attitude to towards family members, significantly different to us

This is what His Grace Śri Vaiṣṇava Mahārāja Rādhanāth Swami had to say in relation to his parents and siblings, when he returned from his journey to Enlightenment in 'Part 4- The Forest of Grace' Chapter 14 of his book 'The Journey Home- Autobiograpy of an American Swami ':

"Although our lives were a world apart, the affection and respect we shared remained prominent. Through the practice of devotion to God, I was coming to learn that preserving loving relations in this world required much forgiveness, tolerance, patience, gratitude and humility. An essential virtue of humility is to accept others for what they are, despite differences. I contemplated again, how tendency to judge others is often a symptom of insecurity, immaturity or selfishness, and I yearned to rise above it. Everyone is a child of God. We are all His children. If I wish to love God, I must learn to love those whom He loves (MatchlessGifts, 2021, Jul, 2, 5:55:18-5:56:27)".

* Lord Rāma declares, "I can enter fire, can eat deadly poison and can jump into the sea in order to carry out the order of My father (Vālmīki Rāmāyaņa, Ayodhyā. 18/28-29)".

5.0 CONCLUSION

-------------

Just like the world has best practices and standards for professions, then there should also be best practices for personal life. Here the best practice that I follow in personal life has been elucidated as per my upbringing, in relation to how to lead daily life, in footsteps of best available guidance on the matter.
